I have a planned LSR this weekend (14th Feb) and fancied a change fo scenery. I know there was talk of meeting up in the London area to take in a few of the parks but not sure how much further the plan got.

So, is anyone interested in meeting up for around 10-13 miles Sunday morning?

so 10am seems to be the suggested start time.

For me I'm after a loo, somewhere to get a drink and a reasonable commute from Reading. I had a quick look at Richmond Park / Wimbledon Common area on a map but not sure what it's like in the flesh.

Anna, I think you had suggested a few places in London that would be ideal. Something about a canal run?

Pace wise I'm good with 5.5, but would suggest somewhere with a few loops for the more speedy so we can all meet before and after.

Gram, I'm just a bit further north than you are (Gateshead)...

... It seems that the further north you go; the fewer "Bugs" there are :-(

It's the same if you venture into the Midlands.

Watch out for those Wombles on Wimbledon Common folks!

update: jf - im not able to make it now - Id forgotten its TCR weekend so im blocked out.

Re others/other regions, gram et al, do post your intention to form a "BugRun" in your area and lets see if you get a response...

For those new to the concept, "BugRuns" are our way of encouraging spontaneous get togethers - we hope the idea catches on and more people do the same in their area...

scrubber I sometimes venture down to Yeovil area but I guess that's not far enough south or west for you. Might be doing Devon 1st weekend in April, somewhere near Salcombe.

I don't know Wimbledon or Richmond at all I am afraid - from memory - the Reading train takes you into Paddington? So...some options...

1. I can pick you up in Paddington - running gear on and we can start running straight from the station. I would take you through the city which is fairly horrific but is quiet at the weekends and then we would head north as it is the only running area I know well.

2. you can tube it from Paddington to Kings Cross - takes about 10 minutes - i can either meet you at kings cross or if you want to change you can come to chez Anna (about 5 minute walk) and change. From there, we can jump onto the canal and i know a route through regents park, finsbury park and hampstead heath. (about 16 miles but can ramp it up or down)

3. we can arrange to meet in regents park by the loos and run laps in and around regents park/canal/primose hill. the best way again for you to get to regents park would be tubing it to kings cross then jumping on the canal and running along that way.

I guess it depends if anyone else is joingin us.

the only thing i would say is the earlier the better - london is beautiful when it is quiet at about 7/8am at the weekends - come lunchtime it is almost unrunnable.

Final thought - I would be delighted to be shown round Wimbledon/Richmond area and would be happy to come along but I am afraid I wouldn't be able to show anyone where to go!!

Just as a side thought actually - I think the reading train stops in Clapham (which is south) before Paddington so it may be quicker for you to run from Clapham south - I am sure you can run Clapham-Battersea-Putney-Richmond - I just don't know how to do it.

Don't know much of anything of the above but I do know the Reading train doesn't stop at Clapham (if that is any use). If you get the all stops (slow) train it does Burnham, Slough, Langley, Iver, West Drayton, Hayes & Harlington, Southall, Ealing Broadway, Paddington. If you get the fast train, it will definitely stop at Slough, usually stops at Ealing Broadway and then stops at Paddington.

Hope that helps (all done from memory, I've sat on the slow train too often :S )

Not too far from me, rommel1939. Can't quite see the Angel from here (Lobley Hill), but some of my morning runs take me up that way.
Meeting up for a long week-end run shouldn't bee too hard to arrange. Any other North-Easteners fancy it?

Still on recovery from a run 18 days ago and beginning to panic it'll never sort itself out. Skipped training again today and will skip it tomorrow in the hope all is well for Sunday. My preference would be a more circular route in case I start getting problems again.

Do we have a show of hands for Sunday?
