Have been dissapointed by failing gps and battery life on my polar lately but had to share this garmin download sent to me by my local running buddy Mick The Butcher where as you can see the route takes in a bit of a swim!

GPS can be wrong for many reasons. Using wrong Datum in setup (WGS84 is the correct but there are many), Signal Echo from tall buildings, Selective Availability - a deliberate military error on the satellite signals, poor signal reception, anywhere near a military base???
Am a Yachtmaster Instructor and experience has shown that signal can be weak if cloud cover is dense enough. There are many possible reasons for the error but it just goes to show how dependable this technology isn't.
