Well tried to run again yesterday and again ended up run/walking because of the pain, but again today am pain free!
The pain is along the outer edge of my foot (little toe side) and is really getting me down now as running seems to be the only thing that hurts it. Did some cardio aerobics style stuff in the week no problem and went for a long walk along the beach yesterday and over the moors today and again no problem.
Have booked in for a gait analysis next Saturday. Part of me really hopes that it is my trainers but I have had them for over 6 months now and haven't had a problem before. Has anyone known anything similar (foot pain wise) or had trainer problems after being problem free for 6 months???

Hi Scrubber, the urban rule on running shoes is that they last about 500 miles. As you have had yours about 6 months what sort or overall mileage had they had?

Only about 350km Lozzer, although strangely enough the day I think I hurt my foot I remember stopping at one point because I thought that my trainer had broken, the foam underneath seemed strange for a second or 2 but after checking it it seemed fine, so I assumed that I had stood on something and that had caused the injury, all very strange and frustrating.

I suffered with a similar prob caused by accidently kicking the sofa with no shoes on since then I have suffered with running until I went and had my gait anaylised and tried various shoes until I found a pair that did'nt hurt( the joy of being able to try before you buy) and today to my relief was able to do 12k with no pain! so hopefully the gait analysis will hope solve your pain

Hi Scrubber, Apologies if I missed you answering this one, but have you been checked out for broken bones? We've had a spate of footballers recently with broken meta-tarsals, amazing how delicate some of the foot bones are.

Hi Bernie,
Not had an x ray yet might try and get one this week if I get time, seems odd that other jumping around doesn't hurt it but you never know! And as you say if it is a break I will be in good company! Do you think I might get paid the same per week for having the injury?

Well eventually got round to having an x ray, and nothing is broken which is good.
Got my new shoes so will try those and may go back to run/walking for a while and see how I go, if it is still bad a quick trip through an MRI scanner for me!
BUT only 15weeks until my half marathon now, ahhhh!!!!!

4 mile coastal path walk today, followed by a 2 mile road run, and just the tiniest bit of discomfort (not helped by the fact that my laces were too tight)
I may be on the mend!!! Fingers, toes and everything crossed.
Think I might try a lot of run/walking to help recovery and get my distance back up what do you think and how long will it take?

May not be much use to you but i have found treadmill running doesnt bother my knee but outdoor running does. If you have access to a tready it may be worth trying a couple of short test runs there.
