Hi Everyone,

I'm looking forward to my second week attempting to jog now and realised I've already set my first real jogging goal. After taking some of the advice on here, I managed to jog all the way 'out' on my route in one go (0.7miles). My goal for this week is now to jog all the way out, short walk, then jog all the way back. Nothing amazing but I'll still be very happy if I make it.

So I was wondering, does anyone else have any goals for next week?

The main goal for me as a lowly office worker, who has to take the bus, is to alight from the bus a stop or two early and jog the rest of the way. It feels like it'll be a tall order, because after a day's work the last thing you really want is to slog on the street. But if I'm really going to make progress, I can't just save up my outings for the weekend.

Another goal is to cut down on my biscuit intake! I have a pack of 12 Jaffa cakes in my desk and they've got to last 5 days. At the supermarket today, I put fresh packs of Jaffas and Rich Teas back on the shelves and scolded myself! I've got to get a hold of this...

I've only started jogging within the past month and I still do a walk/jog routine, but I'm beginning to make it more interesting by varying my pace and steps - little toe steps, fast walk, marching, jogging - in a very amateurish attempt at Fartlek. Good luck to you, but take it gently; walk and jog, increase your milage and enjoy yourself. If you have an MP3 player, load on some of your favourite grooves, and don't forget your water bottle!

Good luck guys! My goal for the week is to carry on following my training plan, as I haven't been able to run for a few weeks, and to raise as much sponsorship as possible for my race :)

Incidentally, my husband is called Tim and is often beardy, until he gets irritated and shaves it all off so your name makes me chuckle :)

Well, just finished my second run this week and managed my goal. 0.7 miles out, short walk and 0.7 miles back. Tres happy now :)

How about you two? I hope it's going well.

Freddie: Are the Jaffa Cakes surviving?
Faybee: How's your training going?

Time for a shower while dinner cooks, I think. Then into some serious relaxing. Got to get into shape for my Friday run now :)

The Friday run. That's my challenge for the week. A few days off work and the routine has gone to pot, however Friday I'm out with 2 far more capable runners than myself. I think they aim to be kind in terms of speed but not distance!

Goal this week is going to be on Sunday when i try and get a 15 miler under my belt. One of the new Sweatshop runners is itching to do a long run and wants to join me, so I'm going to set off and pick him up on route. I'm over twice his age so I don't know what pace he is expecting me to push out but I hope he hasn't got a lot planned for the rest of the day! Secondary goal this week is to learn how to set a few more things on the garmin before Sunday.

Mmm Jaffa cakes

goal for this week, double my mileage on last week, appalling week I caved into the cold, and to get a grip on my fluid intake on runs!! Lastly to come out of the dark ages and learn how to use an Ipod so I have some decent music to listen to, will make the runs so much easier(I hope)

Goal for this week, another core session tonight with the big ball then at least a 5k at the weekend painfree! Heres to hoping, then the half marathon training plan starts 'properly' next week!
Oh yeh promised I would take the kids out for a run too!

Yes, I enjoyed my Jaffa cakes! I'll try to make a pack of 24 (supermarket basics range) last for 2 weeks. I've ordered a skipping rope online, so I can skip around my office (a print room in a factory) and burn off some calories. There's an idea!

Well done Beardy Tim, stick with it!

My goal for the coming week is to do a really gentle run. After being out for 4 weeks with a groin strain I'll have to take it really quiet and make it a short outing. Things aren't 100% yet, but hoping by Monday an outing might be possible.

Jaffa Cakes are 76% Carbohydrate, 20% Fat, 4% Protein, way better than Digestive Sweetmeal at 56%/39%/5%, and comparing well with the much-touted Milkshake (73%/17%/10%)
However, Cornflakes (no milk) at 89%/2%/9% are the way to go!

Ah ha! Thanks for the nutritional info there. How do Shreddies fare compared to good old Cornflakes? I've got a 25p-off token to use! I like to add some Shreddies to liven up my muesli, although I suppose adding some more dried fruit would be healthier... But Jaffa Cakes are better than I thought. Whoopie!!!

Not sure of how much a recommendation this is, but I've heard that Man. United (other football teams are available) have a supply of Jaffa Cakes in their dressing room on match days...

Personally, I find it a real challenge not to eat the whole dozen once I've started on a packet!

Mission accomplished, 15.69 miles in 2:22:30, avg pace 09:05. 1825 calories used and I am absolutely cream crackered. :)

Goal for the rest of the evening is to be able to cough and not wet myself.

Congrats to everyone who made their goals already, and good luck to those setting new ones.

My goal for this week was to run all the way out and back on my 'usual' route in one go. Unfortunately, I seem to have done that this morning so I need a new goal. I think I'll make it to vary my runs and try some new routes and distances from my house. I have my eye on a 5k run in a March so it's probably a good idea to start upping my distance a little now.

Keep letting us know how you get on. It's nice to know people are making progress :)
